Miggy is an experienced executive coach with expertise in leadership and career development, coaching for performance, and emotional intelligence.



Dr. Margaret M. (Miggy) Hopkins is a Professor Emerita of Management in the John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation at the University of Toledo. She teaches leadership and organization development at the MBA and upper-undergraduate levels. She has been recognized by her university with numerous teaching and service awards.

Dr. Hopkins has been a guest lecturer and executive coach in the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead Executive Education programs for over 20 years. She is a Board-Certified Coach credentialed by the Center for Credentialing and Education. She has worked with a broad array of clients in the service, manufacturing, health care, higher education, government, and non-profit sectors on their leadership development. Her recent consulting practice focuses on leadership development and executive coaching, particularly the development of emotional intelligence competencies and overall leadership capabilities.

She has been recognized internationally for her research, most recently receiving the Academy of Management Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division's 2024 Award for Scholarly Contributions to Educational Practice Advancing Women in Leadership. Her research interests include leadership, leadership development, emotional intelligence, and women and leadership. Her research has appeared in such journals as the Annual Review of High Performance Coaching and Consulting, Career Development International, Consulting Psychology Journal, Human Resource Management, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science as well as in several edited volumes.

Prior to joining academia, she held leadership roles in the public sector including Chair of the Board of Education for the Cleveland, Ohio Municipal School District; Co-Director of the Mayor's Office of Competitiveness in Cleveland, Ohio; and Deputy Director of the Governor's Office for Northeast Ohio. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Boston College, and her masters' degree in Organization Development and doctoral degree in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University.
