Kathy Overbeke
Kathy is an experienced coach who aims to help executives strengthen or reinvigorate their sense of personal and professional purpose and mission. Her specialty is in family business generational transitions.
Kathy Overbeke utilizes management theory and experience to help leaders be adaptive, yet grounded in an increasingly complex environment.
In today’s world, knowledge is too vast to be limited to one person. Yet too frequently, issues in communication and interpersonal struggles result in inefficient transfer of information and compromised productivity. Overbeke addresses these issues with a comprehensive approach, leveraging her expertise in emotional and social intelligence to give her clients the tools to problem-solve, create innovations, adapt to new positions and transitions, acquire and disseminate knowledge, and set up goals and strategies to take their business to the next level.
Using Weatherhead’s system of vision-based leadership and intentional change, Overbeke has helped executives in companies of all sizes move their careers and personal lives forward by facilitating their discovery (or rediscovery) of their core strengths and motivations.
In addition to her diverse industry experience, Overbeke offers the theoretical rigor of a Doctor of Management, having received her doctorate from the Weatherhead School of Business at Case Western Reserve University. Her years as a practitioner/scholar have given her a unique perspective on relationships in organizations and interconnected systems in their full complexity. She uses this knowledge to help leaders define themselves in the context of their environment in all its economic, professional, and social intricacies.
Overbeke also has a specialty in family business continuity, a type of organization that has an added dimension of complexity due to family ownership. This work has helped her bring versatility to her coaching.
Prior to becoming an executive coach and family business advisor, Overbeke worked in the manufacturing sector, the federal government, and secondary and higher education. She was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating two companies for over 25 years.
In addition to her D. M. degree, Kathy holds an M.S. in Education from Indiana University and a B.A. in American Studies from The George Washington University. She is also certified by the Hay Group to administer and interpret the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI).
