
Mark Sullivan
Dr. Sullivan, an organizational psychologist, has served over 25+ years in general management, consulting, strategy, and business development within commercial, government, and higher education settings. Specifically, he has served in senior leadership and strategic operating roles in three Global 1000/ Dow 30 companies.
For Honeywell International, he founded and managed a Corporate Business Accelerator that grew into a $1B product portfolio. He was also an Accenture P&L executive, co-leading the North American Human Capital Practice in the telecom and media industry. More recently, he was the Chief Talent Officer for Battelle, a $10B government contractor of classified and commercial research and technology. As such, he oversaw business strategy and senior executive development for the US National Laboratories. He also oversaw the workforce learning and development for both the labs and related government agencies for over 200,000 employees and classified contractors.
He is also a former award-winning leadership Professor at Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and Executive Educator at Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead Management School. During this time, he has been a noted international speaker on personal leadership and performance in high-demand, high-challenge environments. His latest book, "THRIVE: When Trouble Visits!" is now out in popular press edition by Kendall Hunt Publishers.
Earlier in his career, Mark was based in Tokyo, Singapore and Chicago for United Airlines (UAL). He was UAL's chief negotiator in the Pacific Rim for trade and government agreements. Simultaneously, he oversaw UAL's Executive Sales Institute worldwide; and served on the flight school faculty, FAA certified in hostage negotiation and emergency services. He was also a managing partner of Phil&Mark, a commercial aviation and ground security company. Finally, in the airline industry, he was notably recognized for co&leading the emergency response for United Airlines flight #232's, emergency crash landing in Sioux City, Iowa.
Concurrently, Mark was also briefly on special assignment with the U.S. State Department, to support Prime Minister Gorbachev's political reformation efforts in the latter stages of Perestroika. Moscow and Leningrad-based, he worked with a select team of Soviet Generals in developing practices in negotiating peace agreements with their regional neighbors.
Mark earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior at Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Management; and his M.A. from Harvard University. He is a Kauffman Foundation Scholar; a Weatherhead Family Business Horvitz Fellow; a Post-Doctoral clinical resident from the Gestalt Institute; and visiting faculty at the Roman Catholic Pontifical College.
On the personal front, he is a former British Outward Bound Survival School Instructor and Eagle Scout who enjoys endurance running, ocean sailing and wilderness camping. He and his wife are the proud parents of three sons & all Eagle Scouts as well.
He is currently the Founder, CEO of the Performance Learning Academy, offering signature speaking engagements at company events, town halls and industry trade associations. On a select basis he offers senior executive coaching and custom curated leadership workshops.
