CJ Murphy is a Weatherhead affiliate instructor and the chief people catalyst of SPARK 5 Consulting, a firm committed to help individuals, teams, and organizations move toward and grow into their boldest potential. An innovative and creative organizational development professional, she has over 25 years of experience in leading strategic initiatives for growth and change and brings diverse industry experience and broad capabilities to the process of aligning talent with corporate objectives.
CJ coaches clients to step beyond their comfort zones and cultivates an environment for transformation. She works with senior leaders and executives to build engagement, encourage new thinking and translate strategy into action. Her key areas of focus are deploying skill-building experiences that advance the ability to innovate, increase performance, strengthen collaboration and accelerate business objectives.
As an internal practitioner and external consultant, she has coached over 4,000 professionals on performance improvement and career development. CJ is able to draw upon lessons learned from her leadership positions in organizations ranging from international distributors, national retailers, global logistics services and closely-held fast growth companies. She designed and implemented talent strategies that improved employee performance, communication, adaptability to change, and retention.
CJ has served on several nonprofit boards as trustee and advisor. She co-hosted Cleveland Enterprise Today, a television program where she interviewed leading area business executives on leadership challenges and successes and reported on management issues facing Cleveland's business community. CJ has designed and delivered MBA courses, executive seminars and provides one-on-one coaching through Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management and the Dively Center. She is a contributing author in David Cooperrider's newest book - Organizational Generativity: The Appreciative Inquiry Summit and a Scholarship of Transformation.
CJ is certified in Myers Briggs Type Indicator®, Situational Leadership, Kolb Learning Inventory and DiSC®. In addition, she is a Hay Group Accredited Practitioner.
