The Power of a Scholarship: Thanks from a Student
I find it difficult to sum up in words the amazing year that I have had at Weatherhead. As I look back, I am struck most of all by the wonderful people that I have met amongst the faculty, students and administrators. The Weatherhead community has shaped my life and my career in more ways than I can convey.
First and foremost, Weatherhead provides outstanding faculty who tirelessly devote their time and resources to educating and mentoring. For example, this year, Dr. Thomas encouraged us to think beyond the basic tools of finance in order to analyze the broader economic implications of financial strategy. Additionally, Dr. Jonas brings his accounting material to life by consistently demonstrating how it will apply in our professional capacities. He always makes his students his top priority, even rearranging his schedule for group review sessions.
Additionally, this year I had the pleasure of serving both on the Graduate Business Student Association (GBSA) and Weatherhead Women In Business, for which I will serve as President next school year. Through my involvement in student life, I hope to inspire my peers to connect with a broader network of area leaders. I believe that deeper engagement with the Cleveland community will foster a stronger connection to Weatherhead and Case Western Reserve University as a whole.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I feel a profound admiration for the caliber and character of my classmates. My class represents many diverse backgrounds and future career ambitions, and the value of a Weatherhead classroom is best shown through the substance of our daily discussions. As a student ambassador for the Admissions office, I have a similar level of enthusiasm for the incoming class of first-year MBAs. I am eagerly anticipating their impressive contributions to our community next year.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend Weatherhead, made possible through your generosity as Weatherhead alumni. I am excited to start another fantastic year and I look forward to joining your ranks next year.
