GBSA President's Message

GBSA President's Message

Posted 12.19.06

Dear Weatherhead Students,

As you know, the WSOM Dean search committee has completed its charge and the university has appointed Mohan Reddy as Dean, effective January 1.  Thank you for your participation, whether it was sending questions and comments or attending the GBSA meeting. It did make a difference and the committee appreciated the student perspective. It was important to have student input and I hope you felt that the process was clear, transparent, and inclusive.

By now everyone should be enjoying a relaxing winter break. But, before the year is over I would like to start a new tradition and acknowledge five students, who exemplify the Weatherhead way with the GBSA President’s award. These students represent the school and themselves in a positive manner, contribute to student life in a productive way and go the extra mile to distinguish themselves from their colleagues. Please note: GBSA executive board members (elected) and GBSA support council (appointed) are not eligible to receive this award because they are expected to exhibit these behaviors. It was a difficult decision to only name five students, but in April I will honor five more students with this award. So the 2006 GBSA President’s award goes to:

• Michael Bush
• Julie Fratus
• Patrick Leonard
• Mariryn Pongpudpunth
• Whit Tice

Safe journeys for all of the students traveling over the break and I hope the China group brings back some great stories. Warm wishes for a holiday season filled with the love of family and friends, lasting joy, and happiness.

See you in 2007!

Lynnette Jackson, M.B.A. candidate 2007
President, Graduate Business School Association
