GBSA President's Message

Posted 10.19.06

Weatherhead Students,

First semester is more than half over and we have survived mid-terms, participated in some fun and engaging activities and continue to impress potential employers. Congratulations and keep up the good work. As you may have read recently in Case Daily or from an email from Interim Dean Mohan Reddy, Provost John Anderson has designated the Weatherhead Dean Search Committee. The committee has not met yet, but has been charged by the Case Board of Trustees to select a Dean from within Weatherhead. If you have any thoughts or suggestions for the committee, please let me know because I am serving as your representative.

As apart of the GBSA strategy to improve communication among students, we have launched a new site called Post It! Feel free to follow the link and post items, events, and announcements for your classmates. For example, if you are hosting a social event, selling something or looking for another student to help you with a project, just Post it! You have to login with your case id and password. Feel free to use this new tool and let us know what you think.

An-Hsiang Cheng and Christina Heinrich have taken the lead in engaging the International students. The first event, learning the ins and outs of American football was a great success and was followed by the OSU vs. Penn State football game. There was a brainstorming session to further explore the programming for career networking, knowledge sharing and social events. On Wednesday, October 25th at noon they are hosting a lunch session and various American students will be sharing their thoughts on Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

A new student-led lunch series called Monday's Bite was proposed by Mehera May, Mike Bush and Andy Male. Monday's Bite is a new, bi-monthly, free lunch series for Weatherhead students, by Weatherhead students. Each session will feature a Weatherhead colleague who will share funny, cool, and educational stories from their life experiences. You show up, listen, laugh and eat lunch--on us.
