GBSA President's Message
Posted 9.21.06Letter from GBSA President.
Dear Weatherhead Students,
Well, you should be settled into your classes by now and deep into assignments, projects and your career search. Thank you to everyone that assisted with orientation for new students and re-orientation for continuing students. Lots of good information was gained and it set a great tone for the beginning of a new school year. If you missed out on the Career Development Centers presentations, please stop by and schedule a meeting—the new team is full of need-to-know career advice, great ideas and – of course – champagne toasts for our newly employed.
An extra special thank you to Andy Male, GBSA VP of Finance for designing and putting together two Excel and PowerPoint camps already this year. Over 80 students and staff attended the 3-hour sessions where they learned the necessary skills that today’s MBA employers require as well as useful tips for becoming Office masters in the real world. By popular demand, a third session is being planned for those who could not attend previous sessions.
There was an overwhelming response for the networking session with the Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club on September 14th. Students refined their elevator pitches while interacting with young professionals and picked up some extra tidbits about networking. We hope to partner with the 20/30 club for future events. There was also great attendance and engagement at the first Leaders on Leadership with Mayor Frank Jackson on September 15th. Thank you for showing up, looking good and engaging in some very important conversations.
