Each year the Weatherhead School facilitates a New York City Career Trek for our students. This year’s Trek took place on November 17th and 18th and was a huge success.
A networking reception, panel discussion, company visit to Merrill Lynch, and investment banking interviews were available to the students. The reception was hosted by JP Morgan Chase & Company, and included “power networking” for alums, students and “friends of the School.” Alums in technology, law, venture capital, non-profit, marketing, investment banking and corporate finance were there.
Executives from NBC, Verizon, and Prudential Financial took part in a panel discussion, Getting a Job in the Big Apple. Our panelists included Weatherhead alums Judith Dutch, vice president of retail operations and marketing for NBC Universal and Tricia Lynch, director of programming for Verizon FIOS TV as well as Ohio State University alum Clint Barker, vice president, product management, Prudential Financial.
The students who attended the Merrill Lynch visit got a tour of the trading floor and met with senior staff in finance and human resources. The visit was arranged by Martin Wong, MBA Candidate 2006, who interned at Merrill Lynch this past summer.
UBS, Wachovia, Lehman Brothers and JP Morgan Chase Weatherhead alums conducted investment banking interviews with Weatherhead graduate and undergraduate students who completed the Investment Banking Boot Camp held during the Fall Semester.
All of these activities gave Weatherhead students the opportunity to explore the numerous career options available in the New York City area.
