Weatherhead’s Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit welcomes the public to an important conversation entitled “Business Opportunities in Achieving Energy Independence” as part of the semi-annual Fairmount Minerals Colloquium Series. Futurist, change agent, and President and Founder of the World Business Academy, Rinaldo Brutoco, is the first guest speaker of the series, scheduled for April 23 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m at the Peter B. Lewis Building.
Brutoco will discuss the underlying reasons for the surging price of oil—which was just over $10 a barrel a decade ago and recently hit the $111 mark— where the planetary fossil fuel system is heading, and how the current change in the planetary fuel system is altering the wealth and influence of nations and global industries.
Brutoco’s focus will also be on the nature of the forces shaping the energy world, the status of energy alternatives, and the impact of global climate change on all of these issues. He will illuminate future business opportunities imbedded in the current energy situation, opportunities for energy independence, the implications of the energy situation on the war on terror, and the world economy. Brutoco will discuss how businesses can make money using existing renewable energy sources and technologies while simultaneously creating millions of jobs and strengthening the US and global economies.
Through the World Business Academy, Brutoco collaborates with a network of mindful individuals who are collectively exploring the leading edge of business. He uniquely combines theory and practice to assist executives and organizations in adapting to change through the analysis and application of "breakthrough" ideas.
Brutoco is a leading international executive and economist, considered an expert in emerging technologies and industries—especially communications and energy—and has composed numerous articles and books including the new release, Freedom from Mideast Oil.
Brutoco has served on the board of The Men’s Warehouse for more than a decade, witnessing the company’s rise to a current $2.1 billion in retail sales. He was also CEO and chairman of the Red Rose Collection, the sole distributor of Mother Teresa’s personally endorsed biographical motion picture and one of INC Magazine’s 500 fastest-growing privately held companies three years in a row. Brutoco has also served on numerous nonprofit boards, including The Gorbachev Foundation, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, State of the World Forum, the Center for Earth Concerns, Omega Point Institute, and the Brutoco Family Foundation.
Chuck Fowler, President and CEO of Fairmount Minerals and Weatherhead EMBA ’90 graduate will moderate this series.
