Turning Technologies, Inc., a Youngstown-based interactive response systems developer, tops the 2007 Weatherhead 100, the annual list of the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio.
Presented by the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management and the Council of Small Enterprises (COSE), the Weatherhead 100 is a ranking of companies based on sales growth over five years, 2002 through 2006.  Winners must have had net sales of at least $100,000 in 2002 and more than $1 million in 2006.  Additionally, the winning companies must have had a minimum of 16 full-time employees last year.

“For 20 years, the Weatherhead 100 has been a hallmark of recognition of the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio,” said Mohan Reddy, dean of the Weatherhead School.  “The achievements and unparalleled accomplishments of these companies are a testament to the fact that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Northeast Ohio.”

Turning Technologies, which markets their audience response products to K-12, higher education and corporate clients, was founded in 2002 and experienced sales growth of 18,439 percent in 2006.  The company boasts 120 employees
The Weatherhead 100 also recognizes the top “Centurions”- the fastest growing companies in the larger, $100 million-plus category, as well as the top “Upstarts”- growth companies in the smaller, under $1 million-plus sales category.

The top Centurion winner is MemberHealth, Inc., the nation’s fourth largest Medicare prescription drug provider, based in Solon.  MemberHealth held the number one spot in the Weatherhead 100 in 2006.

The winner of the Upstart category is Lakeside Produce Distribution, Inc.  The Westlake company is a national distributor of fresh produce to salad manufacturers, retail stores and wholesalers.

Since its inception in 1987, the Weatherhead 100 has recognized more than 2,000 entrepreneurs who have achieved the extraordinary business growth required for winning the award.
