In addition to scholarship monies, the students will receive access to the dean's choice of key business leaders, receive special introductions to key employers and attend a leadership conference of their choice.
We are pleased with the caliber of these students and look forward to their future success.
Bailey is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He also holds a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering (4.0) from Case Western Reserve University. Bailey has three years of industry experience as an aerospace engineer with Analex Company.
He is interested in the insurance, securities and banking industries, and intends to concentrate in finance. More importantly, he is seeking to gain a better understanding of business to become an effective future leader. Bailey is married, loves to read and enjoys being in Cleveland.
Friedstrom is a graduate of the Ohio State University where he graduated cum laude and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He has six years of manufacturing experience (two years as a production manager and four as an industrial engineer). Friedstrom has been consistently ranked by his recommenders as someone who is extremely bright, practical, hard working and a leader. He is open to his next role but is seeking to lead improvements to value streams.
He is interested in gaining a better understanding of business principles and business leadership to complement his engineering skill set. Friedstrom enjoys working out, reading and outdoor sports.
Heffner is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He also completed coursework in organizational design and change, strategic management and human resource management.
He has 10 years of experience as a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps. He has served in Australia, Korea, Japan, Kuwait and Iraq in various leadership capacities. Heffner is currently considering a focus in finance, consulting, energy or manufacturing and is looking forward to his interaction with his colleagues and faculty. He is married, enjoys staying active and has ties to the Cleveland area.
Zhixing "Cindy" Liu
Liu is a graduate of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics where she earned a Bachelor of Management. She also holds a Diploma in Accounting from the Shanghai Institute of Tourism. She has seven years of experience primarily in financial controls and banking operations with two multinational banks. She had been an accounting control officer and team leader since 2004 in HSBC Area Office China and achieved senior officer status during her most recent promotion at The Bank of Nova Scotia.
She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant in U.K. and would like to seek opportunities in the accounting and finance area. Liu is married, loves to volunteer for charitable organizations and is enjoying her stay in Cleveland.
Lund is a graduate of St. John's College in Annapolis, MD where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts. She has seven years of work experience in nonprofit management. Her recommenders highlight her as someone who is a strategic thinker and at the same time makes it happen.
She is seeking a leadership role in the nonprofit sector and wants to make an impact by integrating the best of both the not-for-profit and profit worlds. Lund has been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, loves to read, and enjoys the theater and hiking. Most recently her volunteer activities include fundraising for her undergraduate institution. She is also currently in the very early
stages of assisting a former colleague with starting her own educational consulting business.
