I am so pleased to have the opportunity to be involved with such an amazing group of people and honored to be able to serve the alumni. Once we graduate, it can be difficult to maintain the wonderful relationships that we forged at Case and stay connected within the community. It is my hope that the Alumni Weekend provides the opportunity to strengthen that sense of community and renew our connections. Our network is certainly one of the factors that will allow the DM Program to continue to stand out in the world of practitioner scholar programs.
The details are now out for the upcoming Alumni Weekend November 2-3. We have two full days of engagement and exploration. We will kick off the weekend with a session on the intersection of appreciative inquiry (AI) and artificial intelligence (the other AI), then switch gears to a session on ethics and social justice and equality, and then explore our roles in academia through the choice of two sessions, one focusing on publishing and the other in academic teaching. We will also have a keynote address by Philip L. Schwartz, Chief Data Officer & Senior Technical Staff Member, IBM. We will finish off the first day with alumni, current students and faculty sharing their research with colleagues in the form of a poster session during our networking reception. Please contact me with any questions. And yes, there will be hors d’oeuvres and drinks, too!
As if that isn’t already a full schedule, on day two, we will have the opportunity to brush up on current trends in quantitative analysis, explore our civil leadership responsibility as practitioner scholars, and hear about updates and new initiatives with the DM Program. And finally we will have a chance to feel like a student again as we sit in on a class with our favorite faculty member!
We have a wonderful opportunity as alumni to maintain our connection to Weatherhead and the DM community. The opportunity to stay engaged in lifelong learning and to maintain our old connections, as well as make new connections, will only enhance our roles in both practice and scholarship.
If you have an idea to further our network, we would love to hear from you! And as always, if you have anything to share about personal and professional milestones, please send the news our way to Sue, Marilyn or me at email@example.com, and we will share that in an upcoming edition of the DM Digest.
I hope to see you at the Alumni Weekend November 2-3, 2018. If you aren’t sure you want to join us, please email me and allow me the chance to convince you!
