Weatherhead School of Management undergraduate students had the opportunity to connect with Weatherhead alumni in mentor relationships for the first time this spring by participating in the Coffee Connections program.
Coffee Connections, a program originally created by the Weatherhead Career Management Office, pairs alumni volunteers with current students interested in being mentored, in person or virtually. Students are expected to prepare questions for their discussions and arrange their meetings with alumni.
“[Coffee Connections] was a good opportunity for me to think about my future plan,” one student said in evaluation of the program, “My match gave me constructive advice about accounting and finance. After the interview, I decided to take some accounting classes next semester. It was very helpful for me to understand the difference between accounting and finance. Thanks to my advisor for providing the opportunity.”
Alumni receive the students’ resumes prior to their conversations. During the conversation they offer students industry insights, perspectives on career options, and other valuable advice.
“Thank you for providing an outlet to remain connected to my alma mater,” said one alumnus, “Please keep it up!”
If you are looking for an opportunity to connect to your alma mater, or if you are a student interested in finding answers about life-after-degree, be on the lookout for an email in August with registration information.
