Alejandro Arroliga, MPOD '14

The Scott & White Clinic Board of Directors recently announced the selection of Dr. Alejandro (Alex) Arroliga, MPOD '14, as Chairman of the Scott & White Clinic Board of Directors and the Chief of Staff of Scott & White Memorial Hospital effective February 1, 2016.

Dr. Arroliga, a specialist in pulmonary and critical care medicine, is a nationally and internationally recognized authority in the management of lung diseases and critical care medicine. Following a successful start to his career at the Cleveland Clinic, Alex joined Scott & White in August of 2006 as director of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In this role, he provided outstanding clinical care while contributing heavily to the rich academic accomplishments of the division. Beyond these contributions, Alex rapidly established himself as a visionary leader and brought these talents to bear when he assumed the chairmanship of the Department of Medicine in May of 2008. During his tenure, the department expanded the number of doctors by 90% and dramatically increased the number of APPs, produced dozens of seminal peer reviewed journal articles, increased and improved the quality of the educational programs, and achieved repeated national acclaim.

The board cited Alex’s creativity and capacity to produce positive change as critical skills he brings as the clinic’s next leader.
