Student-Fueled Global Learning Platform: AIM2Flourish.com
New York City, NY – June 23, 2015
Business students and professors from 19 countries gathered in New York City today for the launch of the Flourish Prizes for Business as an Agent of World Benefit. This new global learning platform and prizing initiative for business innovations was announced at the UN Global Compact’s 15th anniversary events in New York City.
The Flourish Prizes are a student-driven initiative at management schools globally using the UN's new Sustainable Development Goals as a lens to discover and report on radical innovations. The stories will become nominations for the inaugural Flourish Prizes to be awarded in June 2017.
The Flourish Prizes’ Spring 2015 pilot project of 24 professors and over 100 students in 19 countries generated nearly 60 stories about business innovators, all of which can be seen on the new AIM2Flourish.com platform and mobile app.
The Flourish Prizes community of supporters includes UN PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) with 580 signatory schools globally and other business school networks. In September, hundreds of business students will join the AIM2Flourish.com community to discover and report on business innovations that uplift humanity.
“We have a once-in-an-age opportunity for business innovation to be recognized as a truly powerful, positive force for good in the world. By having students discover, share and learn about models of innovation, breakthroughs in product design, new operational processes and leadership excellence, we’ll also help the next generation of business leaders to emerge,” said Dr. David Cooperrider, Fairmount Santrol - David L. Cooperrider Professor in Appreciative Inquiry and Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Weatherhead School of Management.
Bernard Bairoy, a student from the IPMI International Business School in Indonesia said this about the pilot: “Having an opportunity to conduct interviews and probe a particular innovation and flourishing story is already a great learning experience for us. Our paradigms somehow shifted toward a sustainable direction of conducting business--where social innovation forms the nuclei of our business models.”
Business visionary Chuck Fowler, Chairman of the Case Western Reserve University Board of Trustees, believes the Flourish Prizes will inspire businesses to be their best. “We are part of a global business movement to 'do good do well.' The Flourish Prizes are amplifying that new story through the voices of our future business leaders around the world.”
The project is hosted at the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University.
The Flourish Prizes’ technology partner is Purposeful Networks, the leading student-powered college network for sharing sustainable and socially responsible actions.
