Weatherhead graduate students placed first in the local chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBA Association Case Competition November 7.
In the NSHMBA Case Competition, each team is assigned a minority owned business and challenged to provide a business solution. The Case Western Reserve University team of Marc Sawaya (MBA, 1st year), Tong Gu (MBA, 2nd year), Naiwen Zhang (MSM Finance, final semester), and Victoria Saybe (MBA, 1st year) was assigned Tortilleria La Bamba, which is a local corn tortilla factory located in Ohio City.
Currently, the company is only selling to restaurants and catering companies and wants to expand into retail. The team focused on the feasibility of the expansion. They were given two months to contact the company, conduct research and present the solution.
