Valerie Lobas, MBA '05, may not be the next Vera Wang, but she does have the power to adorn you in designer dresses without breaking your bank and filling your closet. How you ask? Lobas created a dress rental shop – similar to a men’s tuxedo rental outlet – called My Best Friend’s Closet. The Seven Hills, Ohio location just celebrated its one-year anniversary this past fall. Lobas was recently featured in Crain’s Cleveland Business Small Business First Year in Review for her innovative store concept in which she talked about how she juggled the idea of rental versus sale. Since many women come in to rent but end up getting attached to a gown, Lobas now gives customers the option to buy. Check out My Best Friend’s Closet at www.mybfcloset.com and you may just learn a little about fashion and a lot about business practices.
