Dean's message

Posted 5.16.2007

This issue of Weatherheadlines will be our last until the new academic year. And it's truly a special edition with news from the past month, highlights for coming months and details regarding graduation.

This year on May 20, the air will be filled with voices of graduates who are excited about moving forward into new careers and opportunities in their lives. And faculty and staff share that excitement because graduation is the end result of what we do during the year and what we are all about as an institution. On May 20 the Weatherhead School will host a Day of Celebration to share with our graduates. It will be a festive occasion as outlined below. I encourage our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends to join us for this wonderful time to celebrate the future of our graduates, and also of the Weatherhead School.

We are honored to have Chuck Fowler, Weatherhead School EMBA '90, president and CEO of Fairmount Minerals, to deliver the commencement address at our diploma ceremony. Fairmount Minerals is one of the largest producers of industrial sand in the United States, and is known for its motto, "Do good, do well." The company is committed to practicing sustainability and corporate social responsibility throughout their organization among employees, suppliers and vendors. Fowler and the Fairmount organization have maintained strong ties to the school throughout the years and he looks forward to speaking to our graduates.

Melvin Smith will host our next Webinar on June 15, "Leveraging the Benefits of Social Capital."

Our year draws to a close with many exciting Executive Education programs.

Warm wishes for an enjoyable summer.  And do stop in to visit when you're in the neighborhood.

With warm regards,
