Alumni Association president message
Posted 2.19.07Message from the Alumni Association president.
I wanted to give you an update on the activities of the board of the Weatherhead Alumni Association and ask for your assistance in an immediate call to action to support Dean Mohan Reddy.
Mission, Goals and Initiatives
Over the past year, we have conducted a complete review of the organization's mission, goals, structure, committees and membership. Through the changes we have made, we have created what we believe is a "working" board that is effective and action-oriented. The newly focused structure has truly allowed us to become involved and influential. As a case in point, the provost of Case Western Reserve University, John Anderson, in response to our request, added an Alumni Board member, Joe LaMantia, to the Weatherhead Dean's Search Committee. We also have obtained a seat for the president of the alumni board on the Dean's Advisory Council.
Our efforts on the dean search have made a difference. Most importantly, we strongly and proactively supported the appointment of Interim Dean Mohan Reddy to the permanent dean's position. The letter that we sent to the provost, alumni board and advisory council spurred an outpouring of support and recommendation letters.
Dean Reddy has earned our support. He has shown an impressive ability as interim dean to lead the school, unite diverse constituencies and create positive momentum. Through his leadership, he has wide support among the faculty, business community, alumni and current student body. With Mohan at the helm, I believe the Weatherhead School is in terrific shape, perhaps the best in 10 years. We now have a strong, proven leader who will help propel the school forward. The Weatherhead School of Management is "Ready for Reddy."
Immediate Call to Action
In support of Dean Reddy and to demonstrate that we are truly "Ready for Reddy," I would like to propose that we, as an alumni group, show our support by reconnecting with the Weatherhead School and making a contribution to our school. Mohan Reddy recognizes the importance of our 15,000-plus alumni and will work to bring our graduates back.
By reconnecting, we would like you, as a member of our alumni family, to:
- Update your profile via the survey which will be sent to you in the next 30 days
- Join a Weatherhead School committee
- Attend a Weatherhead School networking event
- Hire Weatherhead School students and become a mentor
- Financially support the school
To get involved in any of the ways listed above, contact Anisha Walker, associate director of alumni affairs at 216-368-5101. In an effort to help us reconnect alumni to the Weatherhead School, we need your help. We are counting on you to rise to the challenge.
Evan Morgan, M.B.A. ’94
