Bold Thinker Event Featuring Tyler Elm of Wal-Mart

In keeping with the Weatherhead School of Management's tagline, "Bold Ideas. Lasting Impact," the first Bold Thinkers event of the academic year will be held on September 13th and is presented by Calfee, Halter and Griswold, LLP.
We're very pleased to announce that Tyler Elm, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy and Business Sustainability at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc, will be featured as the Weatherhead Bold Thinkers for the fall semester. Tyler has global responsibility for deriving business value for Wal-Mart Stores by directing the development, implementation, and management of a competitive business strategy that derives economic benefits from improved environmental and social outcomes.
Elm will give an overview of the company’s business strategy behind sustainability and declaring the pursuit of a leadership position on the issues of climate, waste and products. Tyler provides a robust perspective on the creation of sustainable value with more than 15 years of experience and formal education in strategic business and environmental issues.
Mr. Elm received a Bachelor of Science in earth and biological sciences, and a Masters of Resources and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University in Burbaby, British Columbia, Canada. He earned his MBA from the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver with a specialization in entrepreneurship and strategy.
