Posted 10.17.2005

For the fourth year in a row,Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Integrated Programs and Professor of Accountancy Gary Previts was recently selected one of the "Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting" in Accounting Today Magazine, the news magazine for the that profession.  The editorial staff chooses from a national list of candidates to whittle down the list to an elite roster of CPAs, educators, attorneys, regulators and representatives from the vendor community.

His profile in the magazine reports the following:  "Through his involvement in various organizations and his teaching, research and writing on topics such as corporate disclosure, and the regulation and development of accountancy, well-known academic Previts continues to impact the profession."

In addition, Gary Previts is recognized as a leading historian of accountancy.  As such, he was asked to bring together seven prominent accounting leaders to consider the profession's recent past and its future in the centennial edition of the Journal of Accountancy, published this month.  Previt's essay is entitled Education With Purpose.

Previts was appointed to the faculty of the Weatherhead School in 1979. He is a recipient of the Weatherhead School's Theodore M. Alfred Distinguished Service Award and Faculty Research Award.

Congratulations, Dr. Previts!
