The Hand that Rocks the Cradle: Disciplinary Socialization at the American Accounting Association's Doctoral Consortium
Critical Perspectives on Accounting, 4 ed., vol. 21, pp. 303-317, April (2nd Quarter/Spring) 2010
This paper offers exploratory evidence about faculty attending the American Accounting Association’s Doctoral Consortium. The profile of these socialization agents suggests that a very narrow, very select view of accounting research is being offered to U.S. doctoral students. Implications for academic careers and the accounting discipline are drawn.
