Marilee Adams, PhD

Marilee Adams, PhD

Marilee Adams, PhD, is an award-winning author and pioneer in the fields of inquiry-based coaching, leadership and organizational culture. She is also the originator of the Question Thinking™ methodologies. She is CEO and founder of the Inquiry Institute, a consultant for organizations large and small, an affiliate instructor for Weatherhead Executive Education at Case Western Reserve University and for 10 years was an adjunct professor in the School of Public Affairs at American University in the Key Executive Leadership Program.

Adams is the best-selling author of Change Your Questions, Change Your Life: 12 Powerful Tools for Leadership, Coaching, and Life, as well as The Art of the Question and Teaching that Changes Lives. Her book about coaching and leadership, Change Your Questions, Change Your Life, is an international bestseller, having sold over 400,000 copies in 24 languages. This book is a standard part of the curriculum in many coach training and leadership development programs. It is also widely used for team and organizational change. Her book chapters include “With Our Questions We Make the World,” which she co-authored with David Cooperrider, PhD, and Marge Schiller, PhD. It is included in Advances in Appreciative Inquiry—Constructive Discourse and Human Organization.

Trish Brandt

Trish Brandt

Trish Brandt is a Weatherhead Affiliate Instructor. She is the founder and president of Brandt Consulting LLC, an organization and talent development firm that works to inspire both individuals and organizations to realize their potential. BC provides consulting services—particularly those concerned with answering questions of strategic importance—as well as seminars and workshops aimed at helping organizations grow through particular attention to their human capital component. Often within the context of a larger organization, BC also provides one-on-one coaching to guide individuals in managing their professional and personal futures. Some recent clients include: A.T. Kearney, SAP America, Newry Corporation, The Bennett Group, University School, The Ratner School, Case Western Reserve University, Edison Search Partners and private individuals—senior level managers to recent college graduates.

In partnership with Case/Weatherhead School of Management Executive Education, Trish has also worked with large public companies to design and deliver executive-level leadership development programs, often incorporating the development of emotional intelligence competencies. She is also accredited by The Hay Group to administer and coach to the Emotional Intelligence Competency (ECI) instrument. At Case/Weatherhead School of Management, she has also taught “Leadership and Decision Making in Nonprofit Organizations” for the Masters of Nonprofit program, various career development workshops for MBA students and coached MBA and Executive MBA students in developing structured problem-solving skills as part of the Action Learning program. Additionally, Trish has assisted individuals—students from a variety of universities, alumni of the Weatherhead School and other working professionals—in exploring career options and setting a path toward personal career success.

Prior to the founding of her firm, Trish was a director with executive search firm Christian & Timbers, and worked on senior-level management and CEO searches within the technology industry. Previously, she was a Manager with the top-tier global management consulting firm, A.T. Kearney. While at A.T. Kearney, she worked on strategy and marketing issues as well as organizational and operating problems with large publicly-held companies in the automotive, information technology, healthcare, consumer products and chemical/pharmaceutical industries. During that time she also worked with the firm’s Professional Development and Training group creating new development models and programs for the firm’s Vice Presidents and consultants. Trish designed and delivered A.T. Kearney’s first major customized corporate university program with the University of Michigan Business School which drew participants from all over the world. She was also actively involved in campus recruiting efforts for the firm both at the undergraduate and graduate levels at top-ranked business schools around the country and created the A.T. Kearney Case Competition at the Weatherhead School of Management.

Trish holds an MBA from Case/Weatherhead School of Management and a BS in Chemistry, with additional concentrations in Physics and Mathematics, from Miami University. During business school, Trish completed a market research consulting project in Europe for a U.K. gas turbine manufacturing company serving both aerospace and power generation markets. She is currently on the advisory board of The Institute of Management and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University and was a board member of the Weatherhead School of Management Alumni Association (1995–1999). Trish has been involved in various community events/organizations including the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, South By Southwest Conference and Music Festival and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Donadio received his MBA from Ohio University, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in communications and was elected to Phi Kappa Phi honorary society. As an educator, he has taught communications at The University of Notre Dame, Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management, The Ohio State University and The John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

Don Henderson

Don Henderson

Don Henderson joined VanAllen in 2013 as Managing Director of Consulting Services. He is responsible for all consulting activities ranging from the C-Suite to the hangar floor. Don's primary focus begins with the perspective of the customer. Organizational design and development are his sweet spot, understanding the critical component of cultural alignment within all organizations and teams. The relationships cultivated over the years have given Don unique insight into hundreds of aviation teams and their leaders.

As a practitioner, he spent 25 years with KeyCorp, a major Financial Services Company, in a variety of roles from Captain, Training Captain, Chief Pilot, and the Director of Aviation. He has a finely tuned ability to work with both top executives as well as aviation professionals. He is credited with broadening KeyCorp's Aviation Department's role by serving as subject matter experts working with a large business aviation leasing portfolio as well as external clients.

Soon after joining VanAllen, Don worked intimately with faculty at Georgia State University, to develop a Business Aviation Leadership Program. This unique program was designed to engage, educate, and empower Aviation Leaders. The course has provided strategic leadership perspective to over 200 program graduates.

Don's wide range of experiences and industry involvement serves VanAllen's clients well. He is formerly the Chairman of the NBAA Corporate Aviation Management Committee, as well as the past Chairman of the NBAA's Professional Development Program Approval Committee. He is currently a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Additionally, he holds an EMBA from Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, is a former Certified IS-BAO auditor and teaches interpersonal communication classes. He is also a certified administrator for the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI), Hogan Development Survey (HDS), and the Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) assessments with advanced interpretation. All of these unique insights are invaluable as Don oversees and directly supports VanAllen clients.

Roman Sheremeta

Roman Sheremeta, PhD

Roman Sheremeta, Ph.D., is an associate professor of economics at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Purdue University and is a recipient of many research and teaching awards, including the 2018 Smith Ascending Scholar Prize, as well as multiple grants, including the National Science Foundation and the Max Planck Institute grants. Sheremeta was listed as a Top Economic Thinker of Ukrainian descent by Forbes in 2015, a top-rated young economist in the world according to the IDEAS ranking in 2018, and recognized as the Best 40 Under 40 Professors by Poets and Quants in 2019. His research has been published in more than 60 leading scholarly journals in economics, business, psychology, and political science, and featured in a variety of popular media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, NBC News, NPR, and Science Daily. The focus of his research is in experimental economics and game theory, with applications to behavioral economics, conflict resolution, industrial organization, labor economics, and public economics. Sheremeta has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Economic Psychology, Games, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Sheremeta has been a consultant to many private and public organizations, including the Cleveland Clinic and Morgan Stanley. He served on the Ohio Attorney General task force aimed at fighting the opioid epidemic in the State of Ohio. Since the beginning of the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, Sheremeta has been continuously advising various entities of the Ukrainian government. Since his appointment at the Weatherhead School of Management in 2013, Sheremeta has taught courses in the areas of negotiation, behavioral economics, managerial economics, and game theory.

Harlow Cohen

Harlow Cohen, PhD

Harlow Cohen is a professor of Organizational Behavior and is also the faculty director for the MS in Positive Organization Development & Change (MPOD) program. Cohen teaches courses in Strategic Thinking, Organization Design, Effective Consulting & Implementation Methods, and Individual Field Projects which is the capstone course in MPOD. He has been nominated multiple times for the Weatherhead Teaching Excellence Award. In addition, he has been a faculty coach for the MBA Action Learning Program, and is a certified coach in Developing Leadership through Emotional Intelligence.

Cohen’s doctoral degree in organizational behavior and his master’s in organization development and analysis are both from Case Western Reserve University. Prior to returning to his alma mater as a professor, he was president of Integrated Profit Solutions, a change management consulting firm; a senior consultant and project manager for Robert H. Schaffer & Associates; vice president of organization planning and development for Ameritrust Company, N.A.; senior vice president of operations and administration for Boykin Management Company; and director of human resources for Cole National Corporation and Cole Consumer Products. In addition to his executive background, Cohen’s consulting assignments have spanned a broad range of industries, serving clients like Panther Expedited Services, Abarta, Laketran, Manufacturers Alliance for Performance & Innovation, The Society of the Plastics Industry, TRW, Allied Signal, Ford, Schuller/Manville, Navistar, Mohawk Industries, Sherwin-Williams, Utilimaster, Dekko International, ASC Incorporated, Ricerca Inc., and National City Corporation.

Cohen has written articles for the Academy of Management Executive, the Advanced Management Journal, Human Resource Professional, Cases in Organizational Development, and Cornell Quarterly on topics that range from tapping into an organization’s hidden potential and generating bottom line results to identifying and developing managerial high performers, maximizing the contributions of human resource professionals, and enhancing team effectiveness. Cohen has also published a book entitled, The Dinosaur in the Living Room: Achieving Positive Change by Tackling the Obvious (2005). More recently he designed and copyrighted three different strategic decision making simulations on disruptive innovation, performance, and industry leadership.
