Raymond Massa, DM

Ray Massa is a Weatherhead Affiliate Instructor and Regional Director, Montreal West Island, Investors Group Financial Services. He has more than 25 years of sales and sales training and management experience in the financial industry and is recognized as an authority on the matter among his peers. Ray built from scratch what is today one of Canada’s largest and most performing financial services offices with over 120 financial advisors. Ray offers a truly unique blend of exceptional field performance as a practitioner and disciplined rigor as a scholar.

Ray originally joined Investors Group in January 1985 as a financial consultant; he was appointed division director in January 1987 and became a regional director in 1993. Ray founded the Montreal West Island Region in 1993 with 19 financial consultants. Today, it has grown to over 120 financial consultants where for well over a decade the office has continued to lead Investors Group. As a region director Ray has won the Master Manager award fourteen times, the National Manager of the Year award five times, the National Master Director of the Year four times. In 2006 Ray was honored with a lifetime achievement award: The Sterling McLeod Excellence in Leadership Award – the second region director in IG’s history to have won this distinction. No other field manager has obtained as many honors in IG’s history.

Ray sat on Investor Group’s Executive Advisory Council (EAC) since its inception for five consecutive two-year terms. The EAC is a body which offers advice to senior management on matters concerning IG’s distribution.

For eleven years, Ray co-hosted on CJAD-800 the popular Ray & Jay Radio show, which was well regarded in Montreal as a source of credible financial commentary.

Ray holds a Doctorate in Management (DM) from Case Western Reserve University. His dissertation was entitled, Effective Leadership of Financial Services Firms: A Study in Resonance and Emotional Intelligence. Ray also holds an MBA from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business.

Ray is married to Viviane who is a successful financial consultant at Investors Group. They have three children: Evelyne (25), who is completing her PhD at Oxford University in England; Alex (23) who is a senior at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania; and Laurent (18) who is in GEGEP at Marianopolis College in Montreal.

Ray is a two time cancer survivor, an experience that brought his family even closer together and intensified his passion for life and for accomplishment. Ray is now considered ‘cured’.
