David Bright is a tenured Professor of Organizational Behavior and Organization Development in the Raj Soin College of Business, Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, USA. He received a PhD in Organizational Behavior from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in 2005.
In his executive coaching, David designs holistic, customized services that maximize the likelihood for successful change. In recent years, he has specialized in helping executives who are experiencing deep challenges. He is an accredited consultant for the Emotional and Social Competence Inventory (ESCI), and he has also co-authored a leadership development textbook, Becoming a Master Manager: A Competing Values Framework (2015).
David has 20 years of experience as a professional facilitator, with expertise in training, leadership development, team dynamics, and organizational development. He continues to be an active consultant and executive coach, specializing in the facilitation of strategic planning and change management processes.
David’s research focuses on the nature of excellence: he has studied the different meanings of excellence, the processes that enable various forms of excellence, and the practices that nurture excellence in organizations. More specifically, David’s writing explores leadership development, virtue ethics, Positive Organizational Scholarship, organizational virtuousness, Appreciative Inquiry, and classroom excellence. His work has been published in several well-regarded academic and practitioner journals. He is passionate about helping people define and enact their potential for excellence.
David’s work has been acknowledged in many arenas. He has been recognized for outstanding, innovative teaching. He is a three-time recipient of the department “Teacher of the Year” honor and was the 2011 recipient of the New Educator Award from the OBTS Society for Management Education, an international organization for management educators. He has also received the outstanding service award from the WSU Raj Soin College for outstanding contributions to the institution.
Past and current clients include such organizations as Wright State University, Wright Patt Credit Union (one of the largest Credit Unions in the U.S.), the U.S. Navy, Roadway Express, the U.S. EPA, and many other organizations in education, finance, research & development, healthcare, transportation, information technology, military, and government.
