Perspectives on Business Innovation

Professor Mohanbir Sawhey from Northwestern University will be presenting "Perspectives on Business Innovation" at the Interdepartmental Seminar on Monday, April 20, 2009 from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. in PBL 258.  Innovation is the lifeblood for growth and sustained profitability for firms.  While innovation has received a lot of attention from practitioners, it is unclear if the firms most admired for innovation achieve superior business results.  Professor Sawhney will present a framework called the "Innovation Radar" that measures innovation on 12 dimensions.  This framework allows managers to visualize their innovation strategy and to find new opportunities for innovation.  He will discuss the empirical validation of the innovation Radar framework, and will conclude by offering suggestions for further research on measuring and improving business innovation.
