Rexford J. Tibbens (Rex)
Former Chief Operating Officer, Lyft
Rex Tibbens is the former Chief Operating Officer of Lyft. He left the company at the end of 2017. During his tenure, he led the company to over 10x growth, expanding to 96% of the US. Rex led the P&L of the company, supply, local operations, customer experience and trust, regulatory and compliance, strategy, and payments / fraud. He joined the company from Amazon, where he led the technical and product development of the delivery feature of Prime Now, Amazon’s one-hour delivery service. Rex joined Amazon in 2011 as a Vice President, responsible for starting and scaling Kindle customer service across the globe. Rex was the creator of “MayDay,” Amazon’s first “in app” live help feature which brings a customer service associate into the customers living room to answer questions, provide help, and even take over the customers device—on demand, on device. In the fall of 2013, Rex assumed responsibility for Amazon Logistics in North America, as the Vice President of Amazon Logistics, North America. During that time he developed the idea for a crowd sourced delivery network, scaled Amazon Fresh (grocery business) delivery, and was responsible for leading global product development for Amazon Logistics.
Prior to Amazon, Rex spent 12 years at Dell, Inc., where he held several senior roles in Services ranging from operations, product development, and leading mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Dell, Rex spent time in strategy consulting at Mercer Management Consulting and worked for Toyota for nine years in a variety of logistics and leadership roles. Rex is a 1998 MBA graduate of the Weatherhead School of Management.
