Making cryptocurrencies into money

Friday, November 11, 2022 at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PMEastern Standard Time

Title: Making cryptocurrencies into money

Summary: The creator of Bitcoin envisaged it as a “peer to peer electronic cash system”. But today cryptocurrencies are still little used as a means of payment. Instead, usage of cryptocurrency is overwhelmingly for speculative purposes. I will discuss whether there is a future for cryptocurrency as money, whether that is in the form of tradable currencies, stablecoins, or central bank digital currency.
