Economics Research Seminar | Weatherhead School at Case Western Reserve University

Economics Research Seminar

Does Information Still Rule?

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the publication of Information Rules: A Strategic Guide to the Network Economy, by Professors Hal Varian and Carl Shapiro.  Information Rules was groundbreaking as the first book to substantively distill the economics of information and networks into practical business strategies.  Professors Varian and Shapiro revealed how classic economic concepts could help us understand the emerging “information economy,” and provided guidance to generation of business leaders for developing effective strategies to compete in the new economy.

In his talk, Professor Varian revisits the issues raised by Information Rules to address what has changed, and what hasn’t, over the twenty years since this groundbreaking work was first published.

Please join the Economics Department for a research seminar.  This event is open to all Case Western Reserve University faculty, Ph.D. students, economic majors and minors, and those interested in economics research.
