Design and Innovation Research Seminar

ABSTRACT: In the recent years, digitalization has been in the focus of firms and organisations efforts in order to improve the service quality of their offerings, profits made from the business, and/or improving the cost efficiency of services. Our research group in Jyväskylä has started to look what happens after digitization and what are the value creation mechanisms impacting this. We see that cyberization is the next step in this evolution of further digitalization of the society.  In our view application and implementation of cyber-physical systems that enable such new kinds of services is a key aspect of cyberization. Cyber-physical systems are open socio-technical systems that are able to understand and interact with the physical world while supporting continuous value creation through the cyber world’s adapting capabilities. In order to understand the value creation mechanisms related to the use of such services, we have studied value co-creation and co-destruction behaviour of service users. In this talk, I will discuss what aspects should be taken into consideration when designing such cyberized services and especially how value creation mechanisms impact this.
