20th DM Reunion Symposium featuring Dr. Scott Cowen

Date & Time: Friday, Sep. 18, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Eastern)

"From Cleveland to New Orleans: Lessons Learned on the Transformative Leadership Road"

Featuring Dr. Scott Cowen, President Emeritus, Tulane University

Welcome and Introduction: Barbara R. Snyder, President, Case Western Reserve University and Charles D. Fowler, Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee, Fairmount Santrol, Ltd. and Chair, Case Western Reserve University Board of Trustees

From being Dean of the Weatherhead School of Management when the Doctor of Management program was initiated to being President of Tulane University when Hurricane Katrina hit, Dr. Cowen brings a unique and timely perspective on the transformative leadership challenges of both of these situations. In his most recent book, The Inevitable City: The Resurgence of New Orleans and the Future of Urban America, Dr. Cowen shares his experience as then President of Tulane University when Hurricane Katrina devastated both Tulane and the City of New Orleans. He explains how this disaster required him to step up and become a transformative leader in order to reclaim the University and help the city to rebuild its basic services. He will share principles of transformative leadership that he learned from his experiences in both Cleveland and New Orleans, and how a crisis of the magnitude of Hurricane Katrina sheds new light on the importance and possible ways of revitalizing our urban communities.

RSVP by Monday, September 14.
