Listed below are some (not all) of the Fowler Center's strategic partners. These partners are on the leading edge of creating sustainable value.
- Aspen Institute
Each year, Weatherhead students compete in the Aspen Institute's Business & Society International MBA Case Competition, a prominent case competition focusing on the environmental, social, and ethical challenges that mainstream, for-profit business leaders face. We coach Weatherhead's students to prepare.
As one of the first Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) certified trainers in North America, Brown Flynn is a close friend and partner. We work together on GRI trainings and sustainability consulting to grow the impact of GRI in the region and beyond.
- The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education
Part of our work to embed sustainability and systems thinking in K-12 education systems like the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). This collaboration has led to the formation of an organization called the Cleveland Educators for Sustainability (CES). Roger Saillant, PhD, serves on the board of the Cloud Institute and actively advises the CES group.
- Great Lakes Biomimicry
We are involved in this growing effort to put biomimicry to work in NE Ohio. Biomimicry, looking at how nature designs to solve human problems, will be an increasingly powerful management and design tool.
- Great Lakes Energy Institute
Roger Saillant, PhD, is on the board of this clean energy initiative and we work closely on projects at CWRU including NSF grant proposals, speakers series and the university's Sustainability Alliance.
- Executive Mind Leadership Institute
In 2016, the Fowler Center announced a partnership with the newly formed Executive Mind Leadership Institute (EMiLI) at the Drucker School of Management, Claremont Graduate University, in Claremont California. The EMiLI supports social entrepreneurs who are working to create a positive future. Expanding on Peter Drucker’s insight that “you cannot manage other people unless you manage yourself first,” the Institute uses mindfulness as a platform to help leaders take effective action in the world. The capacity to manage oneself in the moment directly impacts the effectiveness of teams and organizations as well as the functioning of a healthy society.
- Humanity’s Team
In 2016, the Fowler Center announced a partnership with Humanity’s Team focused on the Conscious Business Principles (CBP) and Conscious Business Training and Certification. The CBP is being rolled out in collaboration with the Goi Peace Foundation and the Club of Budapest. It is part of a global movement of leaders and change agents dedicated to transforming business into agents of world benefit.
- Susie Frazier
Susie Frasier is a Cleveland based artist whose work evokes the human connection to the earth. Her work is featured in the Fowler Center suite of the Peter B. Lewis building.
