David joined Selman & Company in December of 1992 and his role expanded over the course of eight years to eventually include responsibility for sales, marketing and account management. He was named President of the company in December of 2000 and CEO in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, David worked in the Mass Marketing Division within the Group Benefits Department at the CNA Insurance Companies in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Selman & Company evolved from its roots in the property casualty insurance field to the group benefits business where it has focused and thrived for 40 years. The Selman insurance assets are made up of the administrator, SelmanCo, Affinity Insurance Marketing, Inc., a marketing company, Davelly Reinsurance, Ltd. and six other reinsurance companies. This group of businesses has experienced over 700% growth since 2001. The talented management team has worked diligently to ensure the businesses are operated in such a way as to continue to earn nationwide recognition as a leader in all the markets in which they serve.
David served the industry on the National Council of the American Institute of Professional Association Group Insurance Administrators (AIPAGIA) and as a longstanding director for the Professional Insurance Marketing Association (PIMA). He is a member of Young Presidents' Organization (YPO/YPO Gold) and served on the board of the Cleveland Chapter. David volunteered at the Cleveland Museum of Art including serving on its board of Trustees when he was president of the Museum's Young Friends. He is also a member of the Ohio Advisory Board for Northern Trust and the Fifty Club of Cleveland.
David and his wife Caroline are the proud parents of two daughters, ages 23 and 20.
