Application Status

Check your status routinely as you are responsible for receiving communication sent via briefCase and through OpenNet (for Case Custom Signature Loans only). In some cases, you have access to application information that is not available to financial aid administrators due to confidentiality.

You may log into briefCase to check your financial aid application status as you move through the process. Submitted documents should appear on your briefCase account approximately 10 business days after receipt.

Once you are awarded, Sallie Mae will send you an email with a link to their OpenNet website, where you will complete and Entrance Interview (if you are a new students to Case) and sign your Federal Stafford Master Promissory Note, in one step. The email will be sent when the University Financial Aid Office has sent your loan information to Sallie Mae.

If you are also awarded a Perkins Loan, you should log into briefCase to sign your promissory note. Once in briefCase, click on External Loans and choose Perkins Promissory Note. Read the information regarding your loan agreement at the conclusion of this page there will be a button for you to accept the Perkins Loan. This will be used as your electronic signature.
