Move beyond theoretical business ethics - learn how to demonstrate, in practice, what you believe to be right.

The last several years have shown that it is not enough to just know the difference between "right" and "wrong" in business. In fact, most individuals are secure in their sense as to what constitutes ethical business practices. Why then do we still have organizations that make damaging mistakes? The issue is that often a gap exists between the knowledge of what to do and the action of how to do it. This program addresses that issue, by helping participants understand and define their own values and practice giving voice to those values. This program is about more than just business ethics. It is about ethical implementation, and asking the questions: "What if I were going to act on my values? What would I say and do? How could I be most effective?"

This program is designed to provide opportunities for participants to focus their energy, intellect and passion on finding ways to implement their values - rather than focusing on asking whether their values are actionable. This will help participants to feel empowered and confident in addressing conflicting pressures in the workplace, so that they are more likely to make decisions that are based on ethical practices. Drawing on the actual experiences of managers, as well as multi-disciplinary research, this course will help identify the many ways to express values and ethical decision-making in the workplace. The program provides the opportunity to script and practice in front of peers, equipping managers and business leaders not only to know what is right, but how to make it happen.

  • Identify which conditions and problem definitions empower them to effectively voice their values, and which tend to inhibit that action, resulting in an individual as well as an organizational taxonomy of "enablers" and "disablers."
  • Learn to unpack and reason through the most common and intractable of the arguments against ethical and responsible management.
  • Practice crafting, refining and delivering "scripts" and action plans for enacting their values in recognizable workplace situations.
