As leaders, we tend to teach others the habits and routines we have developed within our personal repertoire, based on our past success. But as environments become faster and more complex, and our employees bring with them their own unique gifts and talents, these methods can fall short of our best intentions. A mindful approach helps managers create a supportive infrastructure for developing others, increasing focus and attention while encouraging a thoughtful, creative environment. Mindfulness enhances relationships at all different stages, from contracting how works gets done in the early stages, to conducting performance reviews. When practiced in the developmental process, it helps open new opportunities for how to use existing resources. It provides a way to reframe existing relationships, even allowing for fresh starts with troubled relations. In this program, participants will explore mindfulness as both a lens and a process for enhancing all aspects of managing and developing others.
