Take your sustainability plan, and turn it into a powerful business proposition.

Do you want to start a sustainability initiative in your organization but are you uncertain how to proceed? Should you start in just one part of the organization or try to convince executives to adopt this as a strategic initiative? How do you build the business case? How do you enroll and excite others about the possibilities? What are the most important decisions and tasks early on that will set the right tone for your effort? This course will lead you through various analytical tools to help you build an implementation plan for your own organization. You'll also hear from people who have successfully started sustainability efforts in their organizations. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves workshop where you get personal help to develop a plan to move sustainability forward in your organization.

This session provides practical tips and approaches for elevating sustainability to a strategic issue. Work though the Start Up Kit, either thinking about your own organization or working with others to help them with their organization, to build a strategy to put to work immediately after the workshop. This workshop is less about the technical details of implementing sustainability and more about the political/symbolic/change management issues: Is this the right time? What do you call it? How do you link it to the organization's past and present? Who do you need to get on board? What do you need to increase your chances of success?
