Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) offers a dynamic view of learning based on the learning cycle and driven by the resolution of the dual dialectics of action/reflection and experience/abstraction. It is a holistic theory that defines learning as the major process of human adaptation involving the whole person. In this two-part workshop, Dr. David Kolb and Dr. Alice Kolb, renowned thought leaders, educators and researchers of ELT, will apply the principles of experiential learning to teams and organizations, and provide insight for integrating experiential learning in the work environment and other learning environments.
The first segment of the program focuses on team learning and the complex challenge of building and sustaining high performance teams. Through structured, team-based experiential exercises, you will gain knowledge and skills about the process by which teams clarify their purposes, develop trusting working relationships and effectively accomplish their goals. You will also develop group facilitation skills for applying the team learning approach in your organization.
The second segment of the program provides a deep, enriching set of knowledge and skills for practitioners and educators who seek to apply the experiential learning framework in their consulting practices, management development programs in organizations, and curriculum design in secondary and higher education. While the traditional model of education focuses primarily on performance and outcomes, the experiential learning framework equally focuses on the process and the outcome of learning. Embracing this framework requires leaders and educators to go beyond the familiar educational methods and adopt a holistic approach to learning. In this session you will explore how to positively impact and inspire your employees, co-workers and students with practical tools and frameworks to help them achieve their learning goals and become effective learners throughout their lives.
