Many organizations now understand the business imperative to pursue sustainability. But there are still critical questions that remain: How do you actually embed sustainability into the organization? How do you know that you're working on the most important projects? How do you communicate the long-term vision? What should you include in a sustainability report?
Many businesses and municipalities produce a sustainability plan and report to answer these questions. Over time, Darcy Hitchcock has refined this planning process into a series of logical steps that can be efficiently completed with your management team or steering committee in a few days (usually spread out over a couple months). Sustainability planning does not have to be a confusing exercise. Sustainability planning should not take away from the ROI by costing a fortune in time and money.
This class will walk participants through the process of creating a sustainability plan. Individuals have the option of using their own organization, working with others, or using a case example. Participants will learn a set of tools that can be used independently as well as part of a sustainability planning process.
Participants will get a copy of the SPaRK™ (Sustainability Planning and Reporting Kit), a set of electronic files to help manage their planning process and track their sustainability performance metrics over time.
NOTE: SPaRK is shareware. As part of this training, you get a license to use the tool inside your own organization. If you need additional copies for other organizations, those will be available for additional investment.
