Our workplaces are constantly changing, presenting professionals at all levels with new and often ambiguous decision-making demands. While our time and attention are limited resources, with never enough to go around, we can optimize our effectiveness in these complex situations by developing cognitive agility – the strategic dance between being open and focused.
Striking the right balance is essential for high performance in changing environments. On the one hand, openness is critical in adapting to change. The downside is that with too much openness one likely becomes distracted. On the flip side, being highly focused prevents us from noticing important information that can signal the need to change course. We have to push ourselves to do both. We must be flexible and open to new information, while remaining focused on the task at hand.
Cognitive Agility supports managers and personnel in better realizing their potential to work with change and complexity as it is happening. It extends the work of mindfulness by providing a set of actionable behaviors to engage for achieving workplace success. Through this workshop, participants will be exposed to the latest scientific concepts, take part in simulations and be engaged in a highly interactive and experiential classroom setting.
