Vasu Ramanujam, Ph.D. earned his bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India in 1970; his master’s in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India in 1973; and his Ph.D. in Strategic Planning and Policy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983.

Ramanujam’s past research interests have included strategic planning, strategic cost analysis, corporate turnarounds, diversification, and technology management. He has published numerous papers in strategic management in leading U.S. and European journals. His work has twice won prizes in the Planning Forum’s annual essay competitions on planning topics. He has also been a frequent presenter at professional society meetings and has given many invited speeches before management groups on general management topics.

Currently, Ramanujam’s research is focused on the collaborative processes across competitive organizations, namely strategic alliances, joint ventures, and organizational networks. In addition, he studies performance of organizations under stress, especially the resiliency of organizations to overcome steep performance declines, performance shocks, or unforeseen catastrophic events.
