Ellen Van Oosten is a Weatherhead Affiliate Instructor and Executive Coach with over 15 years experience helping managers and leaders deepen their self-awareness and broaden their leadership capability. She has worked with a diverse group of clients in the US and abroad, including many from Sherwin Williams, Fifth Third Bank, Scottish Enterprises, Barnes Group and the Cleveland Zoological Society as well as numerous participants enrolled in the Weatherhead School’s executive education programs.   She has taught workshops in coaching, emotional intelligence and leadership assessment and development.

Ellen is also a doctoral candidate in the Department of Organizational Behavior at the Weatherhead School.  Her research interests include executive coaching, executive development, emotional intelligence and experiential learning.   She has authored several articles on the subject of coaching and emotional intelligence.

In addition to her academic activities, Ellen worked in Weatherhead Executive Education from 1995-2010 in various senior-level roles including Assistant Dean for Non-Degree Executive Programs and Managing Director, Custom Executive Programs.  In these roles, she consulted with organizations seeking to develop key leaders and led the effort for Weatherhead faculty and staff to design and deliver educational programs for client companies. 

Prior to her position at Weatherhead, Ellen was Director of Human Resources for Cole Gift Centers and spent over 5 years with General Electric as a Key Account Manager and  Technical Sales Engineer.   She is a graduate of the GE Technical Sales Program.      

She has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton and a MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
