  1. How long does it take to complete Weatherhead’s PhD program?
The program is usually completed in four to five years of full-time study.

  2. When is the application deadline for the PhD program?
Applications are due January 31st for admission to the Fall semester. Review of applications received after this date cannot be guaranteed.

  3. Does Weatherhead offer its PhD program through part-time or distance learning?
No. The basic reason is that only a small portion of the training of an academic researcher in any particular discipline takes place in the classroom; most of it involves interaction with faculty and other students in seminars and other informal settings.

Weatherhead does offer a unique doctoral program designed for people with a master's degree and 10 to 15 years of work experience who are looking for intellectual challenge and broadening of their knowledge. This is the Executive Doctor of Management (EDM), a three-year, residency-based program that meets for two full days every three weeks during the semester, thus allowing students to maintain their jobs. The EDM has a practitioner-scholar orientation and is not intended as a basis for careers in academic research. For more information, please visit www.weatherhead.cwru.edu/edm/ or contact Sue Nartker at san2@case.edu or 216.368.1943.
