Does Weatherhead
offer its PhD program through part-time or distance learning?
No. The basic reason is that only a small portion of the
training of an academic researcher in any particular discipline
takes place in the classroom; most of it involves interaction
with faculty and other students in seminars and other informal
settings.
Weatherhead does offer a unique doctoral
program designed for people with a master's degree and 10
to 15 years of work experience who are looking for intellectual
challenge and broadening of their knowledge. This is the
Executive Doctor of Management (EDM), a three-year, residency-based
program that meets for two full days every three weeks during
the semester, thus allowing students to maintain their jobs.
The EDM has a practitioner-scholar orientation and is not
intended as a basis for careers in academic research. For
more information, please visit www.weatherhead.cwru.edu/edm/
or contact Sue Nartker at san2@case.edu
or 216.368.1943.

receive a tuition waiver and research or teaching assistantship
for four years. Assistantship stipends are currently $1,700
per month.

- Is there a minimum GMAT/GRE/TOEFL
score required for admission?
There is no set minimum GMAT/GRE requirement, and the average
score of admitted students varies by program. For students
whose first language is not English, there is a minimum TOEFL
requirement of 550 (213 cbt), though we generally look for
scores of over 600.
- Are the TSE or IELTS exams acceptable
in lieu of TOEFL?

a measure of English language proficiency.

who have completed a degree in the US, English-speaking Canada,
UK or Australia. Please refer to the contact listed for your preferred program.
