Letter from the Department Chair

TO: Persons Who Are Interested in Our Doctoral Program in
Organizational Behavior

Professor and Chair

SUBJ: Program Information

We are delighted that you are interested in our doctoral program in Organizational Behavior. Enclosed is information about our program and an application. (Check our website at http://weatherhead.case.edu/orbh for access to more information about ourselves and our faculty, the Weatherhead School, and, of course, Case Western Reserve University.) If you would like to apply for Fall semester, our application process begins December 1, and the deadline is January 5 . We will review applications following that date, but it helps us to organize and plan our admissions process if we receive them sooner rather than later. After we have reviewed your file, we may invite you for a visit to spend a day with us, meeting with faculty and doctoral students one-on-one, as well as perhaps attending a doctoral seminar. We, unfortunately, are unable to pay your travel costs (if you have them) for these visits.

We are looking for students who are capable of:

1. Theory development and creative inquiry into the nature of human dynamics and social systems;
2. Working with groups, organizations and/or communities (i.e., who are interested and capable of engaging in constructive intervention in social systems); and
3. Learning research skills.

Along with your application we would like to receive a paper that shows your writing/thinking skills (the content is less important; it may be a proposal, report, class paper, etc., and it should be a minimum of 5 pages, but no more than 10).

If you have questions regarding any of the above, please contact Patricia Petty at 216/368-2055 or Patricia.Petty@case.edu; she will be happy to respond in any way she can. We look forward to hearing from you.
