GBSA president's message

Weatherhead Students,

Welcome back! Well, you should be settled into your classes by now and deep into assignments, projects and your career search. We are looking forward to a very exciting semester filled with some exciting events and activities. We hope you will participate in as many of the events as possible. We will need all hands on deck.

We will be holding GBSA elections for the president and five vice presidents, including finance, academic and student affairs, communication, student organizations, and social and cultural. If you are interested in running for office, I encourage you to visit the GBSA Web site and review the constitution and by-laws, as well as schedule an appointment to chat with the student in the role you may be seeking. Platforms are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 16, and elections will be held the week of February 26 to March 2. Mark your calendars for the following very exciting events:

Leaders on Leadership -- Alan Rosskamm, former chairman of the board, president and CEO of Jo Ann Stores, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., February 2; this is an opportunity to have a question and answer session with a CEO.

Community Service Day -- Join fellow Weatherhead classmates, spouses and alumni for a day of community service for Transitional Housing on February 3. The day will begin with a breakfast at 9 a.m. at PBL, followed by a project at Transitional Housing, and end with a luncheon back at PBL with a presentation by Linda Rae, COO of Keithley Instruments (Weatherhead 95'). Excel and PowerPoint camps -- Due to popular demand, Andy Male has agreed to offer these camps this semester. From 1 to 4 p.m., February 9 and noon to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. Please look for an e-mail soon with more details.

An afternoon of bowling -- From 3 to 5 p.m., February 10, at the Corner Alley (East 4th and Euclid Avenues).

Casino Night -- Casino Night is the Weatherhead School's annual formal event, presented by the Graduate Business Students Association. Proceeds will benefit the Norman Wallace Legacy Fund. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, February 17, at the Ritz-Carlton’s Silver Grille. The event includes food, drinks, gaming, and dancing. Tickets will be on sale in front of the Key Café Monday through Thursday until the event.

Meet with Dean Mohan Reddy and Associate Dean Julia Grant -- Day students from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and evening students from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 20.
