New Online Photo System

Posted 05/18/2006

We now have a new online photo system available for everyone to use called “WebShots.” It is located at http://weatherhead.case.edu/webshots.

Here’s how it works. When you reserve a digital camera using the online reservation system, the Classroom Technology and Facilities group will come and take pictures for your event/activity. After the photo shoot, we edit the pictures and post them to the Weatherhead Webshots share drive. From there we will notify you via email that your photos are ready to access.

Go to http://weatherhead.case.edu/webshots log in, and you will see a folder titled with your event name. If you have multiple events, you will see multiple folders. (Figure 1)

(Figure 1)

When you click on a folder it will expand to show you all of the pictures from the particular event/activity. (Figure 2)

(Figure 2)

The default view is Thumbnail. Depending on the number of pictures taken will depend on how long this page takes to load. From here you can save the picture by clicking on the disk icon (Figure 3), or by opening the picture by clicking on the name link. This will create a full-screen picture view that you can save by right clicking your mouse and select “Save image as” and save to the folder you choose. (Figure 4)

From this full screen window you can also print the picture if you choose. If you want to create a CD or DVD, save the picture to your desktop, then use the built in CD or DVD software on you computer. (Some computers may not have this capability). If you need assistance in creating a CD or DVD please feel free to fill out a project request at http://weatherhead.case.edu/avProjectRequest/ there is no fee for this service. We will, however, require that you provide the blank media for the job.

Last but not least, these pictures are being stored on a Weatherhead central server, so you do not need to download and save the pictures to your local drive or department share. If you do, you are creating duplicate files that will eat up our storage space unnecessarily. If additional people in your department need access to the pictures, please contact me via email and I will setup their access as soon as possible.

If you have any questions please let me know.
