Student Report: South Africa Winter Institute

Posted 01/20/2006

Thirty-five Weatherhead MBA students recently traveled to South Africa for the Weatherhead Winter International Institute. During the 2.5 week trip, they explored the economic landscape, rich culture and the tragic legacy of apartheid.

Jim Armour, a second-year MBA student and graduate assistant in the Weatherhead Marketing Department, describes and reflects on this Institute and the enduring impact it will have on all who attended:

"There were wonderful conversations, lively debates, and even a few quietly reflective moments as we pondered the culture, the contradiction, the growth, the tragedy and the hope of a country rich in tradition and alive with newness and potential. This was and is South Africa. And we are all a bit different because of our experience there."
