Sustainable Development Initiatives in Executive Education

Posted 11/03/2005

Weatherhead Executive Education, recognizing the need to enhance sustainable development initiatives, held a meeting to discuss the various ways that staff and faculty members can improve everyday activities in order to sustain resources for future generations.

Below are the top initiatives that will be undertaken by the department:

  • Create sustainability award for companies implementing "green" practices and award them with free seats to Open Enrollment seminars
  • Implement recycling opportunities in the classrooms and break areas throughout the Dively Conference Center
  • Encourage conservation of electricity by turning off computers and lights at end of each day
  • Develop a tracking system to understand the benefits of these initiatives - both for society/environment and cost savings
  • Provide paper free options for teaching

Everyone has a part to play in order to sustain the world's resources. Below are some ways you can support this initiative in your everyday activities:

  • Turn off electronics not being used
  • Recycle paper, plastics and cans
  • Buy from "green" vendors
  • Carpool with family/friends
  • Volunteer your time in the community
