How much is tuition?
For the most current tuition costs, please go to our tuition webpage in the Financial Aid section.
What information about financial aid and scholarships is available? What are the options for international students?
Please refer to the Financial Aid section of our website for more information about financial aid opportunities.
Full-time candidates (US or International) should refer to Scholarships & Fellowships for information on scholarships.
Evening and Saturday part-time students may consider taking advantage of Weatherhead's Corporate Tuition Reimbursement Plan (CTR). Due to the large number of part-time students who receive tuition reimbursement benefits from their employer, the Weatherhead School has implemented this special tuition payment option.
Students who receive at least 50% employer tuition reimbursement may apply for the CTR plan to cover tuition costs. The CTR plan allows a student to register without paying any tuition costs up-front (normal procedure requires one-half payment at the time of registration). Tuition payment is deferred until six weeks after the end of the semester. Students receive additional information about this plan, including how to enroll, at the time of admission.
Students who receive less than 50% reimbursement may choose to explore the various loan programs available.

What is the average profile for students in the Weatherhead MBA program? Can you tell me what my chances of admission are given my background?
To review our current class profile (including average GMAT score, years of work experience, age, etc.) to see how your profile compares, please review our Class Profile web page. We only formally evaluate complete application files since we take all of an applicant's information into account when making admissions decisions.
Can I apply if I have little significant work experience?
Work experience is one of the most critical factors in the admission decision, and the recommended minimum work experience at the time of enrollment is two years for MBA candidates. We recommend that you postpone your application if you have little or no full-time work experience. Exceptions include students who have worked their way throughout their college years, or who have had significant co-op work experiences as part of their college curriculum.
Do you have an undergraduate major requirement? Should I take business courses prior to applying?
There is no specific undergraduate major required for enrollment in the traditional MBA curriculum. We do offer optional Statistics, Accounting and Finance prep workshops prior to the beginning of the program for full-time candidates. These workshops are held in the two weeks prior to Orientation for the Fall semester. The workshops are designed to prepare students without formal business coursework for the heavy quantitative core curriculum taken during the first year.
For Evening and Saturday part-time students, a statistics preparation workshop is taken during the semester in which you enroll in our Statistics & Decision Modeling core course.
What undergraduate University/College should I attend?
The Weatherhead School of Management will consider all candidates who have graduated from a four-year college. If a candidate graduated from a three-year program (such as a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.)), the candidate is considered eligible for admission if one of the following criteria is met:
- The candidate has completed a minimum of one additional year of post-graduate coursework at or offered by an accredited college or university (such as a post-graduate diploma, the first year of the M.Com., a completed M.Com., etc.)
- The candidate has a minimum of five years, post-B.Com. work experience.
What job should I pursue prior to applying to Weatherhead?
The Weatherhead School of Management considers all candidates who have had positions in organizations where they have interacted with other professionals or managers, and where they have been given increasing management and supervisory responsibility.
Can I apply if I already have my MBA?
We do not accept applications for the MBA degree programs from candidates who have already completed an MBA in the US. These candidates may apply to another Weatherhead degree program such as our masters programs or doctoral programs.
Can I apply if I already have another graduate-level business degree?
If a candidate has completed a graduate business degree other than an MBA (Master of Commerce, Chartered Accountancy diploma, Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, etc.) AND the program was two years in length, it is recommended they apply to Weatherhead’s accelerated/11-month MBA program (if pursuing a full-time MBA).
If a candidate has completed a graduate business degree other than an MBA in a program shorter than two years, the typical transcript evaluation will be applied to determine whether the student must take Weatherhead’s 2-year program or whether (s)he is eligible for the accelerated program.
Do you accept transfers? How would I apply? Can I get credits transferred from my previous school to yours?
Students who have completed graduate business coursework at another AACSB accredited university/college should submit the full MBA application, including submission of the graduate transcripts. The Admission Committee will evaluate the credit to determine if: 1) the candidate can qualify for the accelerated version of our program; 2) And/or transfer the graduate credit to Weatherhead.
In general, a student can transfer up to six hours of appropriate graduate business coursework. Students currently enrolled in our MBA program must seek pre-approval for any coursework to be transferred from other AACSB accredited colleges/universities during their course of study at the Weatherhead School of Management. In order to receive a Case Western Reserve University degree, a student must complete 36 credit hours of work at the Weatherhead School of Management.

How do I apply to your program?
The preferred method of application is on-line. If you do not wish to apply via the web, you can download the application materials from our website (PDF or DOC files).
How much is the application fee and how may I pay it?
The application fee is $50. We cannot process your application until we receive the application fee (which can be paid online with a credit card or by a check mailed to our office along with your signature page). U.S. citizens using the paper application may pay by personal check; international candidates should submit a check drawn on a US bank or money order.
Do you weigh some parts of the application more strongly than others?
Each candidate is evaluated for his or her strengths, weaknesses and potential for unique contribution to the Weatherhead student body. Each applicant receives separate evaluation from multiple members of the admission committee.
Can transcripts be sent directly to Weatherhead?
Transcripts can be sent directly to our Admission Office. They must be signed and sealed by the registrar of your primary educational institution. If the transcripts are sent to you, they must remain unopened in order to be considered "official." We cannot use a student-opened copy of transcripts in the admission process.
Can
I send a piece of my application, such as a letter of
recommendation, separate from the rest?
It is preferable that you send all documentation
(with transcripts and recommendations in signed and
sealed envelopes) in one package. Documentation
which is sent separately may cause delays in processing,
and can easily get lost amid the thousands of sets of
documentation we receive. Weatherhead Student Services highly recommends submitting documentation online. Test scores (GMAT and TOEFL)
are the only documents that should be sent separately,
directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Please note
that your recommenders can now submit their recommendations
online, through the web application. This is the
easiest way to ensure that the recommendations and your application have
been submitted and received.
I
am planning on mailing my completed application via
Federal Express. What is your mailing address?
The mailing address of the Weatherhead School of Management is given
on the back cover of the brochure. It can also be found
on the Admissions contact
page.
Who
can I contact if I am having difficulties accessing
the online application?
Our application is hosted and supported by Embark. If you have questions or problems, please visit the Embark Support Center.
When
will I receive notification that you have received my
application?
As soon as your application is received, we will send
you an email, indicating whether or not your file is
complete. If incomplete, you will be notified what documentation
is missing. If complete, a decision will be made by
our stated deadlines based upon when your application became complete.

Do you require the GMAT?
The GMAT is required for the MBA and M.Acc degrees. The GRE or GMAT is acceptable for the MSM-OR, MSM-SC, or MSM-Finance degrees.
Which GMAT scores must I report on my application? Can my official GMAT scores arrive after the deadline for which I applied?
Report the GMAT scores you wish to have the committee review. The official score report sent to us by Educational Testing Service (ETS) will list all scores taken within the last five years.
GMAT scores received after the application deadline may affect your eligibility for a seat in the class based on space availability.
Which GMAT score should I report if I took the test more than once?
The Education Testing Service (ETS) will submit a record of all your scores to us.
If I took the GMAT in the past, how long will those scores be considered valid?
We will accept GMAT scores for exams taken within the last five years.
What is the average GMAT score?
The GMAT score average for the Fall 2007 entering class is 615.
Do you require the TOEFL and TWE?
We require the TOEFL from all candidates who complete their undergraduate degree at an institution where English is not the language of instruction. We do not accept TWE scores.
Our recommended mimimum TOEFL scores are 100 on the IBT version, 250 on the CBT version, and 600 on the written version.
Are there instances in which I wouldn't be required to take the TOEFL?
See question above.
If I applied/had my GMAT/TOEFL scores sent to Weatherhead in the past and I want to reapply, do I have to have them sent to you again?
GMAT test scores remain valid for five years; TOEFL scores are valid for two years. We will retain all GMAT score reports sent to us for five years from the date of the exam. We retain TOEFL scores for two years from the date of the exam.

Who should write my letters of recommendation?
The most effective letters of recommendation are those completed by an individual who has had an opportunity to evaluate you in an organizational setting – a supervisor at work, or a colleague/director in a community service or extra-curricular activity in which you participated. Please refer to the recommendation form for more information.
Must my recommenders write their recommendations directly on the form included in the application?
The completed recommendation form is required, although references may also supplement the information on the form with a separate letter. The same form is required, through either the online application or hard copy.
If I am unable to obtain my original undergraduate transcript, what should I do? Do you ever waive them?
We will not accept any substitutes for the original transcript, unless the university is no longer in existence. In these cases, we will need a notarized statement to this effect.
Can transcripts be sent directly to you by the School? What are "official" transcripts?
Transcripts can be sent directly to you or our Admission Office, in signed and sealed envelopes by the registrar of your primary educational institution. If the transcripts are sent to you, they must remain unopened in order to be considered "official." We cannot use a student-opened copy of transcripts in the admission process.
Official transcripts: 1) must be unopened; 2) show courses pursued, grades received, comprehensive exam results (if applicable) and diplomas awarded. If the original documents are not in English, official translations must be included. Translations that are obtained locally and notarized are acceptable.
Do you require a transcript from EVERY program/course I ever attended? What about summer courses or program's abroad?
We require the transcript from your degree granting institution. If you have received more than one degree prior to applying to our school and wish that institution to be included in your MBA graduation profile, you must also submit that transcript.
Note: If you are applying to the accelerated MBA program, you must submit all transcripts that include business or related coursework, so that the admission committee can evaluate your eligibility to enroll in the accelerated program.

Can I receive an interview from an Admissions Committee Member?
Interviews with an admissions staff member are NOT required for all candidates. We may request an evaluative interview of an applicant if the Admission Committee has questions regarding certain aspects of the applicant's file. We will arrange the interviews via email once we have received the application. Candidates who wish to have an informal/informational interview prior to submitting an application may do so through an on-campus Visit Day or off-campus regional recruiting event.
If the Committee requests an interview with me, will I have to come to Cleveland?
If an interview is required, it can be conducted via telephone or in person (through a campus visit or regional recruiting event).

Application Deadlines and Notification
What are the benefits of applying in the early application rounds?
The Weatherhead School of Management admits full-time students in batches. Students who are eligible for admission or scholarship consideration who submit applications just before or after the application deadline may be placed on waiting lists until places in the class or scholarship funding becomes available. What are the application deadlines? We strongly encourage applicants to submit their applications by our prescribed deadlines.
When will decision letters be sent? Decision letters are mailed within the deadlines specified. All letters are sent via first-class U.S. mail and you will also receive an email notification of your admission status. Do you have deferred admission for college seniors?
No applicants are offered deferred admission.
Do you allow admitted students to postpone starting at Weatherhead for a year?
We do not offer any deferral of admission of candidates in the full-time program. Candidates admitted to the evening, part-time program may defer their enrollment for one academic semester.
How do I reapply to Weatherhead?
The Weatherhead School of Management retains documentation for one year for candidates who do not complete their applications or who do not accept the offer of admission. Candidates who wish to reapply would need to submit a new application form, $50 application processing fee, updated resume and a written request for scholarship consideration (full-time program only), if applicable. Reapplication materials are not accepted prior to December 1 of the year in which you withdrew your application or declined the offer of admission.
